During the 12th annual international tourism forum in Guilin – hosted by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute, and Guilin Tourism Office – Knight and MTM-China students were exposed to new trends in tourism, to exquisite foods and other-worldly riverscapes, and to substantial networking opportunities with global leaders in tourism business, education, and planning.
The nature-based tourism programs at Colorado State University have a long-standing tradition of expertise, innovation, and industry grounded acumen. The advisory board that shepherds and enriches these programs has added two stalwart advocates of the outdoor recreation and tourism industry.

A recent study conducted by researchers from The Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, Colorado State University has been noted as one of the most influential papers measured by research metric firm, Altmetric. The paper currently has a score of 107 and was in the top .9% all-time(99th percentile), of all research outputs scored by Altmetric.

Alum, Ken Mitchell’s project balances development with environmentalism, two goals often thought of as opposing interests but that, as shown by this project can thrive as partners. Mitchell is still actively involved in the college as an advisory board member to Master of Tourism Management Program, offered by the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources.
The Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources’s Tourism Naturally Conference is being hosted this year by University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) in TAUERN SPA Zell am See – Kaprun, Austria – May 16-18, 2018.
The plenary track theme 2018 is “Nature based Tourism, Health & Well-being” and the venue is one of Austria’s most modern spa resorts, situated in the heart of Salzburg’s famous ski areas. During the conference, experts will give insight into sustainable management, product development, and new trends in nature based tourism – but with a special focus on landscape, culture, and health issues.
