Mackenzie Mountains offer stunning backdrop for research

Mountains

Another year of field work is complete on the Mackenzie Mountains Earthscope project and one thing is clear, the locations researchers get to work in are absolutely stunning. The study, entering its fourth year, is aimed at understanding the origins of the enigmatic mountain range. Instrumentation to track deep earth vibration and movements will remain in the field for another year before being collected by the research team. Read more about the project here. The project is being led by Associate Professor Derek Schutt with collaborators Geosciences Department Head Rick Aster, University of Alaska Professor Jeff Freymueller, and Joel Cubley of Yukon College.
